Dear Delegate or Alternate,
The 7th Congressional District DFL 2010 Convention will be called to order on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. at the Bigwood Event Center, 925 Western Avenue, by Hwy I-94, in Fergus Falls.
The primary order of business will be to endorse a 7th Congressional District DFL Candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives (currently Rep. Collin Peterson) and to elect 7th District DFL officers.
The county delegates and alternates elected from the county conventions are delegates to both the 7th District Convention in Fergus Falls April 10 and the MN DFL State Convention in Duluth, April 23-25. Counties should also elect up to two delegates and two alternates to each of the three 7th District Convention Committees; Credentials Committee, Nominations Committee and Rules Committee. These committees may hold their pre-convention meetings on Sunday, March 21 at 1:00 p.m in Alexandria at the Holiday Inn and they may meet at the 7th District Convention on Saturday, April 10 at 10 a.m. in Fergus Falls at the Bigwood Event Center.
It is important to note that because of calendar constraints the MN DFL State Convention Committees (but not 7th District Convention Committees) will be meeting in Duluth the day after our 7th District Convention in Fergus Falls. Those committees include Credentials, Nominations and Rules. [Some of our delegates to the MN DFL State Convention Committees may be elected at a 7th Dirstrict Central Committee meeting on March 21 and some at our 7th District Convention on April 10, as allowed in our constitution.]
This letter is your official convention notice, Review these materials carefully. You MUST be sure your county chair has sent in your name and contact information to the 7th District DFL and the MN State DFL, by mail, e-mail or telephone. To defer costs we ask you to bring $20 for convention registration. Also, $30 for the post-convention banquet (with a very special guest speaker-TBA).
